Gatefold Reader Privacy Policy

Gatefold Reader is an EPUB reading application developed by Jeff Patrick. This policy explains how the application handles information.

Information Gatefold Reader handles

Gatefold Reader does not require an account and does not ask for your name, address, phone number, or payment information.

When you choose an EPUB file or a books folder, the application accesses those files only so it can display and manage your books. Book files, reading position, bookmarks, display preferences, and saved-book information are processed and stored locally on your device. Gatefold Reader does not upload your books or reading activity to the developer.

Data collection and sharing

The developer does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal data through Gatefold Reader. The application does not contain advertising or developer-operated analytics.

Device permissions

Gatefold Reader may request access to files or folders that you select. This access is used only to open compatible books and provide the saved-books features. You control which files or folders are selected and may remove the application's access through your device settings.

Local data and deletion

You can remove saved books and related information from within Gatefold Reader. Clearing the application's storage or uninstalling the application will remove locally stored application data. Your original EPUB files remain under your control unless you delete them separately.

Internet access and third-party services

The application is delivered using GitHub Pages and may use internet access to obtain application files or updates. GitHub may process technical information, such as IP addresses and server logs, under its own privacy policy.

Gatefold Reader may include optional links to third-party websites, such as online book sources or a voluntary support page. If you follow an external link, that service operates under its own terms and privacy policy. Gatefold Reader does not control those external services.

Children's privacy

Gatefold Reader is a general-audience reading tool and is not directed specifically to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Gatefold Reader limits its handling of information to the local functions described above. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but the application is designed to avoid transmitting users' books and reading activity to the developer.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the application's features or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest revision.
